It’s not every day that an international photographic icon drops by

On September 10, 1979, Ansel Adams and his wife Virginia visited the National Archives Building and viewed some of the images he had created for a never-to-be-installed mural project for the Department of the Interior’s headquarters in 1941. 
Chris Rudy Smith, former Director of Exhibits, remembers that “he was very gentle and cordial; his assistant did more talking than he did.” But when you create images of such surpassing beauty, really, what more is there to say?
